Day 1 :
Day 1:

Arrival in Orvieto, an Umbrian city built on a tuff cliff and dominating the valley of the Paglia river, a tributary of the Tiber. The city's curious location is due to the Quaternary activity of the volcanoes of the Volsinio system, where the basin created is home to Europe's largest volcanic lake, Lake Bolsena.
We begin with a visit to the basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, the city's cathedral, whose main characteristic is its Gothic style; its construction was begun towards the end of the 13th century at the behest of Pope Nicholas IV.
Characteristic of the exterior façade are the bas-reliefs representing Genesis, Messianic Events, New Testament stories and the Last Judgement.
Near the cathedral, we can find the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo. Inside, we can find various plans that testify to the construction of the cathedral, such as correspondence indicating the various stages of construction.
Lunch at a typical tavern in the city.
Afternoon tour of the city continues towards another important Orvieto monument, besides the cathedral: Pozzo di San Patrizio. The curiosity of the well is that around it are two spiral staircases, both one-way, which extend independently of each other and are in communication with the outside through two doors.
After emerging from the well, we look out over the panorama below the Orvieto plateau through the Porta Rocca or Porta Soliana gate. From this gate we then head towards the Albornoz fortress and its beautiful public gardens.
Dinner at a typical restaurant.
Return for overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2 :
Day 2:

Breakfast at the hotel. Partenza for the visit of “La Scarzuola”.
La Scarzuola is a rural locality in Umbria, located in the hamlet of Montegiove in the municipality of Montegabbione, in the province of Terni. It is well known for the ancient convent where, according to tradition, St Francis of Assisi is said to have lived, and for the villa in the form of a 'theatre-city', conceived and built in the 20th century by the Milanese architect Tomaso Buzzi as a personal interpretation of the theme of the 'ideal city'.
Continuation to Montegabbione. Lunch at a restaurant.
In the afternoon, we explore the village of Montegabbione, founded around the 11th century, especially the Church of Madonna delle Grazie, built in 1625, with a beautiful fresco of the Madonna del Latte inside. End of services.
