A three-day itinerary to discover the area around Lake Trasimeno with its small villages and museums that characterise an environment closely linked to its Etruscan-Roman origins.
Trip
Late morning arrival in Corciano. Hotel accommodation. Lunch in a typical restaurant. Afternoon meeting at the Corciano Tourist Information Office to visit the Antiquarium archaeological museum. We continue with a tour of the museums, starting from the main entrance to the town - Porta Santa Maria - adjacent to the Torrione, a permanent exhibition centre for Medieval and Renaissance culture, built in 1482. Stop at the parish church of Santa Maria Assunta to begin discovering Umbria through the eyes of Perugino. It continues with a visit to the Pievania Museum and the Peasant House Museum, testimonies of local culture. The walk proceeds along 'the almond tree path' to the Church of San Francesco. The tour ends with the discovery of the frescoes in the Sala del Consiglio in the Palazzo Comunale, the former residence of the Della Corgna family. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for Magione, visit of the Lambardi Tower and the municipal historical library. Continuation to the small village of San Feliciano, on the shores of Lake Trasimeno, visit to the Fishermen's Cooperative with lunch and tasting of typical Trasimeno products. Early afternoon accompanied visit to the Fishing and Lake Trasimeno Museum. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning arrival in Panicale, free visit of the village, with the beautiful octagonal travertine cistern dating from 1473, later transformed into a fountain, in front of the 14th-century Palazzo Pretorio. The visit will touch on the most representative monuments: the Museo del Tulle, the Church of San Sebastiano where a painting by Perugino 'The Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian' can be found, the museum of the Madonna della Sbarra. Lunch in a typical restaurant. Early afternoon departure for Paciano, a small village among olive groves where the view sweeps towards Lake Trasimeno and nearby Tuscany. Accompanied visit to the Trasimeno Memory Bank and Palazzo Baldeschi. In this space, through the faces of the local population, it will be possible to reflect on the 'memory and knowledge of craft, agricultural and food and wine work'.
