The visit begins with a stop at the underground Narni, a collection of sites discovered in recent years and opened to the public. The route begins at the Convent of San Domenico with an entrance from a 12th century church, discovered in 1979, with some of the oldest frescoes in the city inside. In the first room, one can walk on a glass floor from which one can observe the most recent archaeological findings and, with the help of a virtual reconstruction, experience the stages of history that the underground church has gone through. Through a gap in the masonry one passes into a room, probably an ancient domus, with a Roman cistern and, thanks to special effects, one can immerse oneself in the tunnels of the Roman aqueduct of the Formina. The next room, followed by a previous long corridor, was used for interrogations by the Inquisition Tribunal and was called the 'Room of Torments', according to documents found in the Vatican Archives and Trinity College Dublin.\nLunch in a typical restaurant.\nIn the early afternoon we start the nature walk from the Nera Gorge Cycle Route. As we begin our walk, we immediately come across the ruins of the Augustus Bridge, an important construction dedicated to the Roman Emperor, dating back to the 1st century BC.\nYou continue towards an illuminated tunnel, but before that, high up on the mountain of Santa Croce, you can make out the Benedictine Abbey of San Cassiano. There are caves in the area that have been used by various hermits as safe havens.\nAlong the way, you will pass several natural springs such as the Sorgente di Santa Rosa, Acqua del Fico, della Carestia and then that of Lecinetto.\nAfter a few kilometres, one arrives in the small village of Stifone. From the main road, one descends along a path to the bridge that acts as a bridge between the village and the gorges. The place is famous because in this area the river forms a bend and also a mysterious spring of which no one knows the exact location and which pours thousands of litres of water. \nReturn to the hotel.
